Putter Grip

The grip of a putter comes in various sizes. In most cases the standard grip size works best for most golfers. A player can increase the size of the grip slightly by wrapping extra tape around the shaft before putting the grip on the putter. Or the player can order larger grips if he is uncomfortable with a standard grip size.

Very large grips are inclined to prevent the wrists from breaking down when used with irons and woods, but there is little evidence to show that they help in putting.

A few touring professionals have had success with larger grips, but there is no magic in changing from a standard grip size unless the golfer has significantly larger hands than normal and is uncomfortable with the standard size.

Most putter grips have a flat side for the purpose of positioning the hands the same way each time – grips for the rest of your clubs must be round.
